Zhang represented Canada at the Olympic Games previously at Beijing 2008 and London 2012. Wang joined her at the Games in England for his Olympic debut.
Table tennis competition will run through the first 11 days of the Games, from August 6 to 17 at Riocentro, an exhibition centre located roughly six kilometres from the Olympic Park in Barra.
Canada has yet to win an Olympic medal in table tennis. The best all-time singles result for Team Canada arrived via Johnny Huang at Atlanta 1996 when he was fifth in men’s singles reaching the quarterfinals.
