Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 6
MILAN (February 12, 2026) – Day 6 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA DAY 6 MOMENTS:
CURLING
- Team Canada’s women’s curling team, skipped by Rachel Homan (Ottawa, Ont.), opened up their tournament with a 10-4, seven-end win over Denmark.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
- Alison Mackie (Edmonton, Alta.) captured Canada’s best-ever result in the women’s 10km free event, finishing in eighth place.
FREESTYLE SKIING
- Mikaël Kingsbury (Deux-Montagnes, Que.) won his fourth Olympic medal, a silver in men’s moguls. He is the first freestyle skier to win a medal in the same event at four straight Games.
- Kingsbury will compete in the Olympic debut of men’s dual moguls on Day 9 (February 15).
HOCKEY
- Team Canada’s women’s hockey team closed preliminary play with a 5-0 win over Finland.
- On the men’s side, Team Canada kicked off their tournament by defeating Czechia 5-0.
SNOWBOARD
- Eliot Grondin (Sainte-Marie, Que.) won his second straight Olympic medal in men’s snowboard cross, taking silver at Milano Cortina 2026.
SPEED SKATING – SHORT TRACK
- Courtney Sarault (Moncton, NB) has won the bronze medal in the women’s 500m in short track speed skating.
- It is her first individual Olympic medal and comes two days after she helped Canada win silver in the mixed relay.
- Sarault is the first Canadian athlete from outside of Quebec to win an individual Olympic medal in short track speed skating.
- After also helping Canada claim silver in the mixed relay, William Dandjinou (Montreal, Que.) just missed the podium in the men’s 1000m, finishing fourth.
- Dandjinou has three more events to go at Milano Cortina 2026: the men’s 500m, 1500m, and the relay.
