Daryl Watts

Biography

Daryl Watts made her debut at the IIHF Women’s World Championship in 2025. She scored four goals in the tournament to help Canada win the silver medal. Watts first played with the senior National Women’s Team during the 2024-25 Rivalry Series with Team USA.

Watts made her first international appearance for Canada at the 2016 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship. She helped Canada win back-to-back silver medals at the tournament in 2016 and 2017, scoring in each final.

Watts began her collegiate career at Boston College. She made NCAA history in 2017-18, becoming the first freshman ever to win the Patty Kazmaier Award given to the top female collegiate hockey player after leading the country with 82 points. After her sophomore year, she transferred to the University of Wisconsin.

She found immediate success with the Badgers, leading the NCAA in points and assists. She was named co-captain in 2020-21 and helped Wisconsin win the NCAA Championship, scoring the winning goal in overtime. She was named a top three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award and was the WCHA Player of the Year. Watts ended her collegiate career in 2022 as the number two all-time for points scored in the NCAA (297).

Having not gotten an opportunity to play with the national team, Watts briefly retired after college and began pursuing a career in commercial real estate. But after 10 months, she was lured back by a record-setting contract from the Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation. She helped the team win the Isobel Cup as league champions.

After the PHF folded, Watts was selected in the sixth round of the PWHL’s inaugural draft in 2023.  She led the team in scoring in 2023-24. She joined the Toronto Sceptres for 2024-25 and finished third in the league with 27 points to be named a Second Team All-Star.
