Biography:

Eric Staal became the 23rd member of the Triple Gold Club when he helped Canada win gold at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He had previously won the Stanley Cup in 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes and gold at the IIHF World Championship in 2007.

After his NHL rookie season in 2003-04, Staal was named to the Canadian taxi squad for Turin 2006. After winning gold in 2007, he played in his second straight IIHF World Championship in 2008 and won silver. Staal returned to the IIHF World Championship in 2013 when he was the captain of Team Canada.
