Jordan Pierre-Gilles
Team Canada Medal Count
Biography
Jordan Pierre-Gilles became an Olympic champion with the men’s 5000m relay team at Beijing 2022 (alongside Pascal Dion, Steven Dubois, Charles Hamelin, and Maxime Laoun). He competed individually in the 500m and 1000m, reaching the quarterfinals in both.
Pierre-Gilles represented Canada internationally for the first time at four ISU World Cup stops during the 2019-20 season. He skated primarily in the 500m and 1000m but won his first World Cup medal with the men’s 5000m relay team, taking gold at the World Cup finale in Dordrecht.
In 2023-24 he won three 500m gold medals to finish first overall in the distance at the end of the World Cup season, outpacing his teammates Dubois and Félix Roussel. He ended the season with a bronze medal in the 500m at the 2024 ISU World Short Track Championships.
In 2024-25, Pierre-Gilles ranked third overall in the 500m, helping Canada claim the inaugural Team Crystal Globe on the ISU Short Track World Tour. He also contributed to two World Tour victories in the men’s 5000m relay and finished the season with a gold medal in the men’s 5000m relay at the ISU World Championships.
Pierre-Gilles suffered a knee injury during the summer of 2025. He ended up withdrawing from the Canadian Short Track Championships in late August but was still named to the team for the 2025-26 ISU Short Track World Tour. While he raced as a member of the men’s 5000m relay at three stops of the circuit, helping Canada win a second straight Team Crystal Globe, he didn’t enter an individual event until the fourth stop in late November.
Pierre-Gilles made his first appearance at the ISU World Championships in 2021. It was the only international short track event that Canadians entered in what would have been the 2020-21 season. He competed with the men’s 5000m relay team that finished fifth. The next year, he and the relay team improved on that result, following up their Olympic gold with a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships.
Pierre-Gilles won three medals at the Four Continents Championships in 2023-24, including 500m silver and mixed relay gold.
