Chudoba defeated American Kayle Browning in the gold medal match, but it took a shootout after the two women were tied 11-11 after the initial 15 targets. Both women hit their first targets of the shootout, before Browning missed her second while Chudoba was successful.

The victory also secures an Olympic quota place for Canada in the women’s trap event for Rio 2016.

Chudoba had started her day with a fourth place finish in the qualification round before placing second in the semifinal to set up the showdown with Browning. Chudoba bettered the silver medal won by her cousin Lindsay Majeau-Boddez four years ago at Guadalajara 2011.
