Team Canada’s Chefs de Mission have cooked up a great Games

Team Canada is lucky to have three unbelievable Chefs de Mission at Toronto 2015. Curt Harnett and his amazing flow leads the way, with Waneek Horn-Miller and Elise Marcotte at his side.

Curt, equipped with his trademark luscious locks, was always known for flying around the cycling track at break-neck speeds. He is the owner of three Olympic medals: silver from Los Angeles 1984 and bronze from Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996. He also took home a gold and bronze from the 1987 Pan Am Games in Indianapolis.

His new responsibility as Chef de Mission is to translate that energy into cheering on Canada’s athletes and helping guide them onto the podium. Harnett has been spotted at countless events throughout the Games, and dealt with a lost voice from cheering so hard.

His assistant Chefs de Mission both spent their are their athletic careers in the pool, but competing in quite different sports. The incredibly talented Waneek Horn Miller was part of Canada’s gold medallist women’s water polo team from the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. Joining Waneek is the elegant and amazing Elise Marcotte, who won double gold (duet and team) in synchronized swimming at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara.

The three chefs have lived up to their main roles as leading the Team Canada cheerleading efforts. Here are some images of the chefs out and about as well as some tweets (from them and others) about their passionate support:

Once a Chef, always a Chef

Mark Tewksbury, who was Canada’s Chef de Mission at London 2012, and Jean-Luc Brassard, who was Assistant Chef at Sochi 2014, have both been on hand at Toronto 2015 to help guide the team to victory.
