Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 9

MILAN (February 15, 2026) – Day 9 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA DAY 9 MOMENTS:

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

  • Team Canada’s quartet of Xavier McKeever (Canmore, Alta.) Antoine Cyr (Gatineau, Que.), Rémi Drolet (Rossland, B.C.) and Tom Stephen (Calgary, Alta.) finished fifth in the men’s 4×7.5km relay team event. It’s Canada’s best-ever result in an Olympic cross-country relay.

CURLING

  • The Canadian men’s curling team defeated China 6-3 in nine ends, improving their record at these Games to 4-1. Next up for the team is Czechia on Day 10 (February 16).

FIGURE SKATING

FREESTYLE SKIING

  • With a gold medal in men’s dual moguls, Mikaël Kingsbury (Deux-Montagnes, Que.) has won his second medal of Milano Cortina 2026 and the fifth Olympic medal of his career. He is the first freestyle skier to win five Olympic medals.
  • This was the debut of men’s dual moguls at the Olympic Winter Games, making Kingsbury the inaugural Olympic champion in the event.
  • Kingsbury is Canada’s first gold medallist at Milano Cortina 2026.  
  • Dylan Deschamps (Quebec City, Que.) qualified for the men’s freeski big air finals, which will take place on Day 12 (February 18).

HOCKEY

  • The Canadian men’s hockey team finished preliminary round play with a perfect 3-0 record after defeating Team France 10-2. As the top team in Group A, Canada has earned a bye through to the quarterfinals on Day 12 (February 18).
  • Sidney Crosby (Cole Harbour, N.S.) now has 15 Olympic career points, surpassing Jarome Iginla for the most by a Canadian in the National Hockey League era of the Olympic Games.

SKELETON

  • Jane Channell (North Vancouver, B.C.) and Josip Brusic (Okotoks, Alta.) finished 15th in the inaugural Olympic mixed team skeleton event.

SKI JUMPING

  • Abigail Strate (Calgary, Alta.) and Nicole Maurer (Calgary, Alta.) finished 11th and 20th, respectively, in the Olympic debut of the women’s large hill event. 

SNOWBOARD

  • Laurie Blouin (Quebec City, Que.) and Juliette Pelchat (Whistler, B.C.) have qualified for the women’s slopestyle final, which is scheduled for Day 11 (February 17). 
  • Mark McMorris (Regina, Sask.) and Cameron Spalding (Havelock, Ont.) have qualified for the men’s slopestyle final slated for Day 12 (February 18).
