Katherine Henderson, Hockey Canada’s president and chief executive officer, also provided support as part of the executive committee preparing for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

“We are excited to unveil the 25 athletes who have earned the opportunity to wear the maple leaf at the 2026 Olympics, as we believe we have assembled a highly skilled and deep roster that can compete for a gold medal as part of Team Canada in Italy,” said Armstrong. “It was a long and difficult process to finalize our roster, and I am proud of the tireless effort our management group has put in to select our team. We know our entire group is excited and grateful for the opportunity to represent our country, and we look forward to making all Canadians proud and hearing our fans cheer us on as we look to bring a gold medal back to Canada.”

The 25-player roster includes six players who were nominated to the men’s hockey team in June (Crosby, MacKinnon, Makar, McDavid, Point and Reinhart), as well as 19 players who helped Canada win the 4 Nations Face-Off championship in February. This will be the first Olympic Games for all but Crosby and Doughty, who both won back-to-back Olympic gold medals at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014. The players have won a combined 22 Stanley Cups, as well as 10 gold medals at the IIHF World Junior Championship and eight gold at the IIHF World Championship.

19 players have suited up for Canada’s National Junior Team at the IIHF World Junior Championship (Binnington, Celebrini, Cirelli, Crosby, Doughty, Harley, Horvat, MacKinnon, Makar, Marchand, Marner, McDavid, Morrissey, Point, Reinhart, Sanheim, Stone, Suzuki, Theodore). The roster also includes 20 who have played for Canada’s National Men’s Team at the IIHF World Championship (Binnington, Celebrini, Cirelli, Crosby, Doughty, Hagel, Horvat, Kuemper, MacKinnon, Marchand, Marner, McDavid, Morrissey, Parayko, Point, Reinhart, Sanheim, Stone, Theodore, Thompson).

“I am honoured to be selected to Canada’s men’s hockey team together with so many great players and people, and I am excited to again have the opportunity to represent Canada in February and compete for a gold medal,” said Crosby. “We know how much pride comes with wearing the maple leaf, and our team understands the passion that comes with Olympic hockey.  We are grateful for the opportunity to compete with Team Canada at the Olympics.”

Team Canada has won 16 Olympic medals in men’s hockey, including 9 gold. The most recent Olympic hockey tournament to feature NHL players was Sochi 2014, where Team Canada captured gold.

“We are proud of the 25 men’s hockey players who have been nominated to Team Canada, as we believe there is no greater honour in sport than representing your country at the Olympic Games, and we wish to congratulate the players and their families for this incredible achievement,” said Henderson. “We know this team of athletes will create lasting memories for Canadians across the country and around the world through their performance on the ice, but they will also represent Canada with a tremendous amount of pride off the ice as members of a larger Team Canada.”

Men’s hockey at Milano Cortina 2026 will take place February 11 to 22, 2026 (Day 5 to 16) with games taking place at both the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena and the Milano Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena. Canada will open the tournament against Czechia on Feb. 12 at 10:40 a.m. ET/7:40 a.m. PT at Milano Santa Giulia Arena before taking on Switzerland on Feb. 13 at 3:10 p.m. ET/12:10 p.m. PT and France on Feb. 15 at 10:40 a.m. ET/7:40 a.m. PT.

“Composed of exceptional athletes, the men’s Olympic hockey team embodies the excellence and legacy of Canadian hockey,” said Jennifer Heil, Team Canada’s Milano Cortina 2026 Chef de Mission. “I had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary victory of Canada’s men’s hockey team at Vancouver 2010. I have no doubt that Canada is more than ready to proudly wear the maple leaf at Milano Cortina 2026, and to create more unforgettable moments that will surely bring our nation together with pride.”

Prior to being named to Team Canada, all nominations are subject to approval by the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Team Selection Committee following its receipt of nominations by all National Sport Organisations.
