Cordano Russell

Biography

Cordano Russell posted Canada’s best ever world championship result in men’s street when he finished fourth at the 2023 WST Street World Championships in Tokyo.

He earned his ticket to Paris 2024, where he would make his Olympic debut, with a 10th-place finish in the second stop of the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest in June 2024. That ensured he would be ranked 16th in the World Skateboarding Ranking, making him the top Canadian Olympic qualifier in the men’s street event.

In his World Skate Tour debut in Rome in 2023, Russell reached the final and finished seventh overall. He reached the semifinals of the World Skate Tour in Dubai in 2024.

Russell moved to St. Louis, Missouri when he was four and around that time found his first skateboard in a bush. He was hooked as soon as he stepped on it. By the time he was eight, he knew that he wanted to pursue the sport and his parents agreed to move the family to San Diego where the skating scene was huge.

Russell earned his first career podium in October 2018 at TWS Sacramento and less than a month later got his first career victory at TWS San Diego. Among his more recent highlights are a top-10 finish at Uprising Tokyo in May 2023 where he also finished third in Best Trick.
