Sam Reinhart
Biography
Sam Reinhart is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026.
Reinhart suited up for Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025, contributing four assists as Canada won the tournament. He had previously played for Canada at two IIHF World Championships. He helped the team win the gold medal in 2016 and was part of a silver medal-winning squad in 2019.
The year before his senior world championship debut, Reinhart was the leading scorer at the 2015 IIHF World Junior (U20) Championship with five goals and six assists, helping Canada win the gold medal. He also competed at the world juniors in 2014 where Canada finished fourth.
Reinhart competed at two IIHF World U18 Championships, winning gold in 2013 after a bronze in 2012.
Reinhart was selected second overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first full NHL season in 2015-16. He was traded to the Florida Panthers ahead of the 2021-22 season. In 2024, Reinhart scored the goal that clinched the Panthers’ first Stanley Cup title. He was a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Award (for the NHL’s best defensive forward) at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Reinhart’s father, Paul, was a defenceman who played 648 games over 11 NHL seasons with the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks.
