In his Olympic debut, kayaker Ryan Cochrane earned a seventh place finish in the men’s K-2 200m with partner Hugues Fournel. The pair also finished in 12th place in the K-2 1000m on the water at Eton Dorney during the London 2012 Games.

Mark de Jonge captured bronze in 2012 at his first Olympic Games in the inaugural K-1 200m race. The native of Halifax, Nova Scotia qualified an Olympic berth for Canada with his sixth place finish at the 2011 World Championships in Szeged, Hungary.
