Mark Pearson has more than 260 senior national team caps since making his debut in 2005. At just 21-years-old, he was the youngest member of the Canadian field hockey team at Beijing 2008.
In 2014 René Cournoyer competed at the Youth Olympic Games where he just missed qualifying for the all-around final by one spot but did qualify for the individual apparatus finals on vault and horizontal bar. In 2015, he was a member of the Canadian men’s team that just missed the podium at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.
With a high fitness level thanks to her dance background, Jessica O’Connell stood on the podium at her first ever junior nationals. She had always been infatuated by the Olympic Games, so those results made her realize that with a little hard work, competing for Team Canada was possible.
Geneviève Lalonde broke her own Canadian record in the 3000m steeplechase on May 19, 2019, running 9:29:82 at the Diamond League meet in Shanghai. Lalonde’s breakout season had come in 2015 when she won steeplechase bronze at the Pan Am Games in Toronto and made her IAAF World Championship debut in Beijing.
