Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 10

MILAN (February 16, 2026) – Day 10 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA DAY 10 MOMENTS:

CURLING

  • The Canadian men’s curling team defeated Czechia 8-2. The win moved Canada to 5-1 and alone in second place behind unbeaten Switzerland (5-0). 
  • On the women’s side, the team snapped their losing streak with a 10-5 win over China and a 9-4 victory over Japan. 
  • On Day 11 (February 17), the women’s team will face Sweden while the men’s team will face Great Britain.

FREESTYLE SKIING

  • Megan Oldham (Parry Sound, Ont.) claimed her second medal of Milano Cortina 2026, winning gold in the women’s big air.
  • This is Canada’s first Olympic medal in ski big air, which was only added to the Olympic program four years ago at Beijing 2022.
  • Fellow Canadian Naomi Urness (Mont-Tremblant, Que.), who made her Olympic debut here at Milano Cortina 2026, placed sixth in the event.

HOCKEY

  • The Canadian women’s hockey team are heading to the finals after defeating Switzerland, 2-1. They will face Team USA in the gold medal match on Day 13 (February 19).
  • Team captain Marie-Philip Poulin (Beauceville, Que.) scored her 19th and 20th career goals at an Olympic Games, surpassing Hayley Wickenheiser’s women’s Olympic record for all-time goals. 

SPEED SKATING – SHORT TRACK

  • With a silver in the women’s 1000m, Courtney Sarault (Moncton, N.B.) has become Canada’s first triple medallist at Milano Cortina 2026. Sarault had previously won silver in the mixed relay and bronze in the women’s 500m.
  • It’s just Canada’s third ever Olympic medal in the women’s 1000m. Nathalie Lambert won silver at Lillehammer 1994 and Kim Boutin also won silver at PyeongChang 2018.
  • William Dandjinou (Montreal, Que.), Steven Dubois (Terrebonne, Que.) and Maxime Laoun (Montreal, Que.) have qualified for the quarterfinals in the men’s 500m. The remaining rounds will all occur on Day 12 (February 18).
  • Canada has qualified for the men’s 5000m relay final, which will take place on Day 14 (February 20).
