Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 14

MILAN (February 20, 2026) – Day 14 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

TEAM CANADA DAY 14 MOMENTS:

BOBSLEIGH

  • Melissa Lotholz (​​Barrhead, Alta.) and Kelsey Mitchell (Sherwood Park, Alta.), are the top-Canadians (7th) after the first two heats in the two-woman event. Mitchell, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in sprint track cycling, is now the 14th Canadian Olympian to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. 
  • Fellow Canadians Bianca Ribi (Calgary, Alta.) and Skylar Sieben, and Cynthia Appiah (Toronto, Ont.) and Dawn Richardson Wilson (Edmonton, Alta.), sit in 11th and 14th, respectively. 
  • The last two heats will take place on Day 15 (February 21).

CURLING

  • Team Canada’s women’s curling team—skip Rachel Homan (Ottawa, Ont.), third Tracy Fleury (Sudbury, Ont.), second Emma Miskew (Ottawa, Ont.) and lead Sarah Wilkes (Toronto, Ont.)— will play for bronze against the USA on Day 15 (February 21). 

FREESTYLE SKIING

  • Brendan Mackay (Calgary, Alta.) won bronze in men’s ski halfpipe. Canada’s only other Olympic medal in men’s ski halfpipe was the silver won by Mike Riddle in the event’s debut at Sochi 2014.

HOCKEY

  • The Canadian men’s hockey team will play for gold against the USA on Day 16 (February 22) after erasing a two-goal deficit to defeat Finland 3-2 in semifinal play.
  • This will be the first time Canada has played for Olympic men’s hockey gold since Sochi 2014, a game that saw the Canadians defeat Sweden 3-0. The Sochi tournament was the last Olympic Games to feature NHL players.
  • Connor McDavid (Newmarket, Ont.) now holds the record for most points in a single Olympic Games by an NHL player in men’s hockey (12).

SPEED SKATING – LONG TRACK

  • Valérie Maltais (La Baie, Que.) won bronze in the women’s 1500m for her third medal of Milano Cortina 2026. 
  • The first time Canada reached the Olympic podium in the women’s 1500m was the last time the Games were in Italy. Cindy Klassen and Kristina Groves shared the podium at Turin 2006, winning gold and silver, respectively. Groves added another silver medal at Vancouver 2010.
